This collection is inspired by two art movements – Delhi Silsila and the Bombay Art School – linked to two
hometowns.
A Head of a Gosain by Pestonji Bomanji, reminds me of my childhood in Delhi. A priest, much like the one
in the artwork, would visit us every Sunday afternoon to offer blessings. The fragrance of the mustard oil in
his small silver pot, the soft clink of coins as we dropped them in and watched them turn golden, his chants
enveloping us. The artwork revived a forgotten core memory. Golden and silver brass beads inspired by
the coins are scattered across the garments, while wooden beads, that emulate the meditation beads,
ground the collection.
The Extinguished Flame by AR Chughtai, with mystical, dusky tones evokes a sense of the ethereal. The
colors carry depth, mirroring my complicated feelings about Mumbai. Summers in Delhi were carefree,
unlike the feeling of returning to Bombay’s rain and a new school year. Though my love for Bombay is
now immense and unwavering, I still see myself in this painting – morose, messy and pining for her true
love.
Polarity is at the core of this collection. Glossy, hard, handmade ceramic buttons and beads contrast
the soft, wooly texture of the hand-knits. Classic menswear silhouettes featuring stripes and checks are
paired with feminine beading and tassels; chunky cardigans alongside slinky ones. The juxtaposition
of the mystical and the mundane, the playful and the poignant, is woven into the very fabric of these
garments.

bold symbols, and unexpected details that define the brand.
